I am also installing Intel Visual Fortran 11 on my machine when I run a file in PSCAD i get an error that the directory is unrecognized. can you help me with what the specific files should be for visual fortran 11 with Visual studio 2005 installed on a vista machine?

    Hi

I'm not too sure, as i haven't installed the Fortan 11 Compiler yet. I want to ensure that PSCAD V4.2 will work on it first. But i would suggest:

1.that you look at your environment variables to see if they have been setup correctly (refer to PSCAD help) [Wherever you see VERSION in capitals, enter the version of fortran compiler you have e.g. 11.0.11 etc.)

    LIB:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\PlatformSDK\lib;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\lib;C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\VERSION\IA32\Lib

    IFORT_COMPILER11 :
    C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\VERSION\

    INTEL_LICENSE_FILE:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses

    Path:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE;C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\VERSION\IA32\Bin;

    2. Ensure that you have selected the correct compiler in PSCAD (Edit -> Workspace Settings)

If i get any feedback from PSCAD themselves, ill get back to you!

    Hi,

I have installed Intel Fortran 11.0 and MS Visual Studio 2008. PSCAD recognises the installed Fortran complier.

I receive 'nmake-f' errors. I believe this is due to environment variable setting problem.

Does any body have a solution for this?

I agree, it has to be an environment variable problem. Although i havent installed version 11 on my pc as yet, i suggest you used the environment variables shown in the help file of PSCAD for version 10 and adapt them to the new version 11!

For example, PSCAD help says that that when using the IF Compiler V10 one should use the following as an environment variable:

    IFORT_COMPILER10:
    C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\10.1.011\

Now adapt this variable for version 11....

    IFORT_COMPILER11:
    C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\11.1.011\

I've emailed PSCAD support many times to find out if version 11 would work with PSCAD, and if so, how should the environment variables be configured...its been months....no reply!

Good luck, once i install my copy and i figure out the exact variables i will load in onto the forum!

    Hi Nabbie,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I have received environment variable settings for various compliers and associated MS Visual Sudio (MSVS) versions. I appreciate their help. Please find attached document.

However even after making appropriate changes and ensuring the right environment variable settings for my Vista machine, I'm still unable to run models. I receive LNK1181 and Fatal (unable to open WSock32.lib) Errors. May be due improper PSCAD/MSVS/INFv11.0.61 linking.

I've sent support query regarding this and I'm waiting for PSCAD support team to reply.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

I have installed Intel Fortran 11.0.074 and MS Visual Studio 2005. PSCAD doesn't recognises the installed Fortran complier.

When i go to workspace settings, just GNU 1.1 appears.

How can i do to PSCAD recognises the Fortran instaled?

The environment variables were set according to the above comments.

    Best Regards.

    Hi rfvidigal,

Close PSCAD and I suggest the following:

    Copy ifort.exe file from "C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler.01\fortran\Bin\IA32" to "C:\Program Files\Intel\Compiler.01\fortran\Bin" directory.

Caution: Please Do Not Cut and Paste or Move instead it's a copy from one folder to another. And this is specific to Inter Fortran v11 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 only.

Restart PSCAD now. And I guess you should be able to see the installed Intel Fortran compiler. If doesn't, then you will to contact PSCAD support on this explain what you just did.

    Hope it helps!

    Regards,
    Chandra
